Buenas noches mi familia y mis amigos! It’s so good to be on here!!

This weekend has been so sweet. A time of refreshing, and a time of growth. But before I post my blog about this weekend, I just wanted to give y’all a quick update on how everything has been!

Over the last several weeks, as many of you know, I have wrestled with quite a few physical ailments, and it has been really difficult to get in the rhythm of writing blogs. It really all started shortly before coming on the World Race. From falling down the stairs of my cousin’s house, straining my Achilles in the States and then further injuring it playing soccer when first arriving to Guatemala, to having an infection in my eye, falling up the stairs at my host home, getting extremely sick with a 103 degree fever and other severe cold- like symptoms, falling on my tailbone as I broke two plastic chairs, and finding out I have three infections that I am actively taking antibiotics for, I have been asking the Lord what He desires me to learn through these experiences. (It’s okay to laugh… really, I have laughed too! And it has brought levity and joy to the heaviness that sickness can sometimes bring).

A lot of what I have experienced may appear to be coincidental sicknesses and injuries, but I have asked the Lord and really do believe it has to do with Spiritual warfare. I am not quick to label incidences such as these with deeper meanings than what they really might be suggesting but I know Satan is not in agreement with what God is trying to do here in Guatemala. I am convinced that the enemy is trying to steal, delay, or hinder what God intends to accomplish here in this country. But we know that Satan does not have the final word and that God takes what the enemy means for evil and turns it for good!!

Just as a little recap, our team has experienced a lot of changes over the last several weeks; whether it be that our sweet Ruthie decided to go home to be with family back in England just the other week (now, making us a team of four women), that we have had our wonderful squad leaders stay with us at our host home (trust, me, they’re awesome!), or that we have been physically battling sicknesses that have prevented us from being our whole selves and wholly present; all of these situations have not escaped God’s care but have been a sweet reminder of the stability and wholeness that I have in Christ no matter the changing circumstances.

I originally had SO much more content to this blog but I figured I would send a quick update about my physical health before delving into the spiritual lessons the Lord has been teaching my team and me. I have been greatly encouraged by hearing from you and being told of your prayers and of your care. Know that you are in my prayers and that even though I am away from you physically, you are very much on my heart and mind always!

God is so so good and I can’t wait to share what’s been going on in my heart and life over the past few weeks!

Love much,

Katherine

  5. Dear Katherine – So good to see your update. I love your Spanish intro to this update! I understood it all except two words and I will find out what those two mean – but get the gist! You have been in our prayers both individually as well collectively at church. Thanking the Lord that you are getting the medical care needed, and that you are, through Him, able to keep upbeat through it. I do agree that the enemy is trying his best to thwart your mission; I also believe our God is Greater, Wiser, and Almighty! He is Jehovah Sabaoth – The Lord of the hosts of Heaven will always fulfill His purposes! He has equipped you and will continue to equip you for every good work. Bless you, Katherine! Dios the bendiga! We continually intercede for you and your team, leaders, and all those whose lives will intersect with yours.

  6. Katherine – believe your discernment is accurate and Praise be to God who ALWAYS triumphs. We are keeping you surrounded in prayer and thank you for posting updates for us. The Lord bless you with good health and balance and the power of the Holy Spirit!

  7. Hi Katherine! I will continue to pray for you through the ups and downs. I pray that you are feeling better. I know God will bring the best out of this. God will always be with you, and his plans will prosper despite Satan’s attempts to stop him.

  8. So proud of you for clinging to the Lord and maintaining a mindset that is set in heavenly places, just like you are!!! Continued prayer for the body, the soul, and the spirit of everyone on the team. Love you

  9. Hello to all the puppets back home!! I so appreciate every part of children’s church, including ALL the puppets!
